We have been working on a Bob Dylan Goes Twang: Part Two for a quite a while and finally feel like we have the perfect ten…make that eleven…songs to offer you. On this mix, we hear from the likes of George Harrison, Cher, Townes Van Zandt, Rod Stewart, Jeff Buckley and more. If you missed Part One, click here.
Fresh off of their tour down to Bristol, the Morning Pages will be playing at the Mercury Lounge tonight alongside Alana Amram and the Rough Gems. If you want to hear some “cool, hip” music (see the video), click here to check out a video of the Pages performing their tune “Bristol” on Daytime Tricities (Johnson City, Tn’s local morning show) and then head on over to the Mercury tonight.
Bob Dylan- Man of Constant Sorrow
A standard that got a huge resurgance with O Brother Where Art Thou. Check out the version from the move after the jump.
We have switched hosting sites. While it looks the same, we are no longer on Uber.com. Our deepest sympathies go out to everyone at Uber, who just last week were all let go and told that the site was closing down today, Monday, September 29th. It was an amazing site/program that really did inspire a lot of people, myself included, to turn what was initially an afterthought of a blog into a full blown serious website. Thanks to everyone there for their support and encouragement.
So, onwards and upwards! We had to manually transfer everything over here this weekend and sadly couldn’t transfer every single post (though we got most!) and are still working on the Mixtape/Style/Video pages. I’ll let you know when they are completely back up. Another thanks has to go out to Freddie Wong for insuring that there would be a site when you got here today!
And is there anything that you personally wanted to see added or changed on When You Awake? Please let us know because we now have the flexibility to do so! Well…on to the posts for the day…
When You Awake
Over the weekend, we will be switching our site over to a new hosting company. We hope to have a smooth transition and to have everything up and running by Monday- so you won’t even notice. But! There is a chance that it might be down for a day or two. Don’t worry! We will be back at www.whenyouawake.com- better than ever!
And next week is a big week. We will be doing ticket giveaways for THREE shows: Justin Townes Earle, Kurt Wagner (Lambchop) and Leslie and the Badgers. We also have a mixtape coming from the Henry Clay People and Volume Two of Dylan Goes Twang.
If the couple days of silence is as upsetting to you as it is to us, then also please take a moment to befriend us on Myspace
. Anyways, see you in a few!
