For the latest in our Movie Lounge Series, we present to you Neil Young’s BBC Concert from 1971. The 32-minute concert has never been released on video or dvd (save occasional screenings on the ol’ telly) and showcases a post- After the Goldrush, pre- Harvest Neil Young. The majority of the setlist comes from Harvest,  along with “Dance Dance Dance” which at that point in time had only appeared on Crazy Horse’s debut record (minus Young) and two other tunes that didn’t appear on anything else until 1973′s Time Fades Away. Young also charms the crowd with some between song banter about cows, cars, masculinity, girls he used to date and so on. A must watch for any Neil Young fan.

Check out rare performances of the following tunes:
Out on the Weekend
Old Man
Journey Thru the Past
Heart of Gold
Don’t Let It Bring You Down
A Man Needs A Maid
Love in Mind
Dance, Dance, Dance

This is my favorite period of music from Neil Young when the quality of his song writing was much more consistent.

I have also done a electronica version of “Dont’ Let It Bring You Down” you may like. – Check out a sample on my website http://www.apellmusic.com/electronic-music-releases/index.php/reconstituted-neil-young-song-cover
