In Living Color: Hackensaw Boys at Silverlake Lounge
Filed under: In Living Color | Posted by:

The Hackensaw Boys put on an amazing show last night at the Silverlake Lounge. Those boys must have broken more strings in one night than most bands break over the course of an entire tour. A fellow standing next to me in the audience put it perfectly. He said,  “I bet they’ve never left a gig and said, man, I wish we had given more and rocked that gig just a little bit harder.” For the 6-piece band (standup bass, mandolin, banjo, guitar, fiddle and tin percussion unit) to do so would literally be impossible. For the last couple of songs, the Boys actually left their mics and plugged in atmosphere behind and opted for a more intimate concert going experience. They came right up to the front of the stage (and in the case of their Banjo player, into the crowd) and proceeded to sing “Whiskey Woman” and their last couple of tunes from there. To all of you kids who live in Santa Cruz or San Francisco, they are heading your way now! GO SEE THEM. I don’t feel this adamantly about many bands, but every single person that I’ve convinced to this band live has fallen completely in love with them. That’s gotta mean something. Check out more pictures, by the wonderful India Brookover, after the jump.
