Leonard Cohen Goes Twang: A When You Awake Mixtape
Filed under: Mixtapes,Twang Series | Posted by: jody
Our Twang Series continues with with the ultimate reclusive heartbreaker himself, Leonard Cohen. Cohen, who in addition to being one of the most prolific songwriters of the 20th Cenutry is also a poet and novelist, explores the themes of isolation, religion, failed relationships and so much more in his complex, beautiful songs. With Tim Hardin, Jeff Buckley and Francoise Hardy performing them, perhaps we should have actually called this the Leonard Cohen Goes Dark and Folky Mix. If only Nick Drake and Townes Van Zandt had recorded any Leonard Cohen tunes, this mix would have been unstoppable. Check it out after the jump.
