Moby Grape – Hey Grandma & Sitting By The Window
Moby Grape performing their tunes “Hey Grandma” and “Sitting By The Window” from their 1967 debut album, Moby Grape. The group was comprised of Alexander “Skip” Spence (previously of Jefferson Airplane), Peter Lewis, Jerry Miller, Bob Mosley and Don Stevenson. They are generally regarded as one of the greatest bands of the SF-rock scene (just listen to their records Moby Grape, Wow and Grape Jam) but were plagued by a series of great misfortunes. In the words of music critique Jeff Tamatkin: “The Grape’s saga is one of squandered potential, absurdly misguided decisions, bad-luck, blunders and excruciating heartbreak, all set to the tune of some of the greatest rock and roll ever to emerge from San Francisco. Moby Grape could have had it all, but they ended up with nothing, and less.”
