Santa Cruz, California band The Devil Makes Three has given us their “Top 10 Songs To Leave Your Lover By (and a few to get them back).” The mix features tunes by Blind Willie McTell, Gram Parsons, Little Milton and more. The Devil Makes Three are in the midst of a nationwide tour that will take them across the US over the next couple of months. Check out the mix and their complete tour dates after the jump.

Songs To Leave Your Lover By (and a few to get them back):

1. Blind Willie McTell- A – Z Blues
There are a lot of ways to deal with a cheating lover.  Willie McTell chooses to carve the whole alphabet into his with a razor.

2. Doc Boggs- Mistreated Mama Blues
We seldom hear this story from the female perspective.  Here we hear her side of the story sung by a man.  I particularly love the lyrics on this one.

3. Sippie Wallace- You’ve Been a Good Old Wagon
This one is an old Bessie Smith standard.  Here it is sung by Sippie Wllace at the age of 83.  What a dis!

4. The Hoosier Hotshots- Divorce Me COD
The Hoosier Hotshots are a group not many people know of anymore, which is a real shame because of gems like this one.

5. Memphis Jug Band- You May Leave but This Will Bring You Back
How to get her back? Heroin and food is one way I guess…  Love the instrumental break on this one.  It just keeps going around and around…

6. Sundowners- Here we Go Again
This never worked in the past, so why not try it again, right?

7. Fred Eaglesmith- Crazier
A song about missing that old dysfunctional relationship.  No matter how bad it was, it still seems more exciting than a stable one right?

8. Little Milton- I Cant’ Quit You
Sometimes we all need a little break!

9. Gram Parsons- We’ll Sweep Out The Ashes in the Morning
A classic case of “just one more for the road” perfectly executed ny Gram PArsons and Emmylou Harris

10. Geraldine Fibbers- Get Thee Gone
This cut is pretty self explanatory, buy Neils Cline’s Guitar work always blows my mind.

Great one!

“Here We Go Again” is such a sweet song.
Quoting “…The Sundowners knew more than 15,000 songs, playing about 7,000 songs annually.”
