Movie Lounge: Neil Young and Waylon Jennings on Nashville Now
Filed under: Movie Lounge | Posted by: jody

In honor of Neil Young’s 64th birthday yesterday, here’s his appearance on the tv show Nashville Now from September 20, 1984. Little Jimmy Dickens, Faron Young and Waylon Jennings join him on the couch and provide some amusing commentary during Young’s interview, in which he talks about his current status with old band Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young (“the lifestyles are a little different now”) and the meaning behind his song “Are You Ready For The Country”. Young also performs “Field of Opportunity” and “Amber Jean” and is joined by Jennings on “Are You Ready For The Country.” A nice little slice of Neil Young country history. Today is also the one week mark away from our Neil Young tribute which will take place Friday, November 20th at the Bootleg Theater. Click here for more info.

GREAT performance and interview. I love that he is wearing the “cowboy / indian” getup and a pair of docksiders.
