Top 20 Albums of 2009
Filed under: News | Posted by:

I would like to present When You Awake’s Top 20 Albums of 2009. This was a fantastic year for music with so many new bands emerging from the scene. I’m especially thankful to those behind the Pickathon Music Festival in Portland, Oregon and the Bristol Rhythm and Roots Festival in Bristol, Tennessee for introducing me to some of my new favorite acts. The albums aren’t in any particular order (after the first 5 albums that is).  Also, I know that I am forgetting some strong contenders so keep in mind that this a slightly incomplete list. Please use the comments section to tell me your top records of the year and anything that I might have missed. When You Awake’s Top 20 Songs of 2009, featuring many of the acts below, will be coming tomorrow. Stay tuned!!

1. I really did like the Wilco record but I found that I only listened to it all the way through about two times before putting it aside for new tunes. Really good…but it wasn’t one of the records that shaped 2009 for me. I will forever be a fan though. Wilco 4 life.

Bill Callahan—haven’t actually heard the record. Will defintitely check it out though!
