So much new music today! In addition to the Justin Townes Earle track we just posted, we have a beautiful new song from Sweden’s Tallest Man On Earth entitled “King of Spain”. The song is the first single from his sophomore release, The Wild Hunt, which is due out April 13th via Dead Oceans. It’s the follow up to 2008’s Shallow Grave, which was a favorite here at When You Awake and appeared on our Best of 2008 list. You can check out the tracklisting as well as his upcoming European tour dates after the jump.

When You Awake and Halcyon Magazine Present GOLD DUST tonight, Thursday, January 21th at Footsies in Highland Park/Mt Washington. Kick off your shoes, order up a good bourbon, and get down to your favorite dual slide guitar screamin’ swampy southern rock scorchers, classic and psyche-country jams and our special late night blues-hop dance party. We are on from 10 pm- 2 am and the entry is free. So if the good lords willin’ and the creek don’t rise (well– the creek might actually rise as it’s been raining buckets but we are worth weathering the storm),  we’ll see you tonight at GOLD DUST!

Rachel Williams from the San Francisco-band Sleepy Sun with her solo project Birds Fled From Me. I had the pleasure of seeing her live a couple of weeks ago here in LA and she completely blew me away. Seriously, watch the entire clip. It keeps getting better and better.
