In Living Color: The Low Anthem and Timber Timbre

Low Anthem

The Low Anthem played a sold out show on Thursday night at the Bootleg Theater. They were honestly awe inspiring. Each of the four members of the band played about 10 instruments a-piece, switching seamlessly from drums to clarinet to guitar to crotales to pump organ to fiddle to…you get the idea. The effect of that switching around was that each song provided a completely different sound and look into this versatile band.

Highlights of the show included a double bass solo played masterfully and quite movingly by Jeff Prystowsky, the dueling clarinets played by Jocie Adams and Mat Davidson, and the cell phone trick that lead singer Ben Miller got the entire audience to do during “This God Damn House.” Basically, if two cell phones call each other and you place them next to each, they make a whistling sound. You can check out a little example of the cell phone thing in the video below. Verdict: Absolutely incredible musicians that will keep you guessing the entire time. More pictures, taken by Hagop Kalaidjian, are after the jump.
