Vinyl Picks: a weekly column were we recommend three vinyl records that any When You Awake reader should own. First up, we have Link Wray with his 1971 self-titled album that was recorded in an old chicken shack on Wray’s Maryland farm. The auction is set to end on May 11th and currently has zero bids at $9.99. Click here to check it out.

Next up, we have Townes Van Zandt’s 1968 debut record For the Sake of the Song. The record features Van Zandt classics like “Tecumseh Valley”, “Waiting Around to Die” and “I’ll Be There in the Morning.” I love this record so much that I even named my online store after it. The auction is set to end on May 8th and currently has three bids at $16.50. Click here to check it out.

Lastly, we have Cher’s 1969 record 3614 Jackson Highway. The title of the album is named after the address for the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Alabama where the album was recorded. The in-house session band The Swampers added such a sweet southern soul touch to covers of Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth”, Bob Dylan’s “Tonight, I’ll Be Staying Here With You” and Otis Redding’s “Sittin’ On The Dock Of the Bay” among others. The auction is set to end on May 9th and currently has zero bids at $0.99. Click here to check it out.
