Glastonbury Festival
When You Awake has been selected as one of the UK's Top 40 music bloggers and will help judge Glastonbury Festival's 2011 Emerging Talent Competition! The competition will give one new, unsigned artist from the UK or Ireland the chance to perform on the main stage slot at this year's Festival.
At different points in my life, I have played guitar, piano, bass, harp and the drums. I am horrible at all of these now (I have this terrible habit of not practicing), but the one “talent” I can claim is that I’m pretty good at the spoons. I don’t whip ‘em out often, but when I do, watch out! That said, here is a little tutorial taught by some random dude. Enjoy!
For the latest edition of our Twang Series, we pay tribute to the great Nick Drake. The mix features covers of Drake-penned tunes by Lucinda Williams, Elton John, Iron & Wine and more. Who should we feature next in our Twang Series? Let us know in the comments after the jump. (more…)

Jill Andrews and Sam Quinn team up for a cover of Lucinda Williams’ “Something About What Happens When We Talk” in May 2010. It’s really nice to see them performing together again since their band, The Everybodyfields, split up in June 2009.
Thank you to everyone who came out to the Beach Boys Tribute + Benefit on Saturday night. The event was a huge success thanks to the kind support of the Los Angeles music community and together we raised $1517 for The Sweet Relief Musician’s Fund! Check out more pictures from the evening, by our lovely photographers India Brookover (IB), Taylor Herron (TH), Mike White (MW) and Jon Mackey (JM), after the jump. Videos from the event are coming Monday.
