Tonight in LA: Josh Ritter and the Carolina Chocolate Drops at the Henry Fonda
Filed under: Tonight in LA | Posted by:

Head over to the Henry Fonda Theater tonight, Wednesday, June 23, to catch Josh Ritter and the Carolina Chocolate Drops.  Tix are $22.50 and they are still available online. Ritter, who’s currently touring in support of his new record, So Runs The World Away (out now via Pytheas Records),  just released an absolutely beautiful video for his track “The Curse”,  a tune which tells the tale of a love story between an archeologist and her mummy. The video was created by Ritter’s drummer, Liam Hurley, who also happens to be a master puppeteer. Be sure to watch the video below, and if you see me at the show, say hello!

Guest Mixtape: Pete Oberg’s Expected Synchronicity
Filed under: Blog Love,Mixtapes | Posted by:

Pete Oberg, an audio archivist for the music site Wolfgang’s Concert Vault, has given us a mixtape. I am very pleased to present his mix entitled “Expected Synchronicity.” For those who are unfamiliar with The Concert Vault, it’s a site that contains thousands of live performances and interviews from the 1960s through today from the likes of The Band, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Van Morrison, Bruce Springsteen and more. All you have to do is sign up for a free account and then all of the concerts in the Concert Vault are yours to stream online. Some of the concerts are even available for free download, while others are available to download for a small price (though streaming is always free). Check out Pete’s mix, which includes a couple of tracks from the archive and various other recorded material from the likes of Ralph Stanley, Justin Townes Earle, Moby Grape and more, after the jump.

Movie Lounge: The Wild World of Hasil Adkins
Filed under: Movie Lounge | Posted by:

The Wild World of Hasil Adkins is Julien Nitzberg’s 1993 short documentary about the legendary Boone County, West Virginia psychobilly musician Hasil Adkins. The filming takes place in Adkin’s backyard, shack and at various concerts. The Youtube player is set up like a playlist, so when the first clip stops, the next clip will automatically start. Enjoy!
