The lineup has been announced for the 2nd Railroad Revival Tour! This year’s tour, which starts in Duluth, Georgia and ends in Oakland California, will feature the one and only Willie Nelson, Band of Horses, Jamey Johnson and John C. Reilly. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Friday, July 27th at 10 am CST.

RRT

I’ll be returning once again to my post as “Official Tour Blogger”, writing for the Railroad Tour’s website leading up to the show and then sharing my experiences on the train during the tour. If you missed my posts from last year, check out the Travel Diary I wrote while traveling cross country with Mumford and Sons, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Old Crow Medicine Show. So, who’s going to come see me along the route?

Los Angeles’ own Rachel Dean has made a video for When You Awake! She recently sat down and filmed a beautiful cover of Little Feat’s “Willin’”. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Rachel, she’s been promoting and running nightclubs for years around Los Angeles and is currently hosting and occasionally performing at the weekly Wednesday night gathering called “Desert Nights” at The Standard, Hollywood. She also used to work out in Pioneertown, where she helped run the local motel and could frequently be seen at Pappy & Harriet’s, playing with her band Rachel Dean and War Children. She’s about to record a 6 song EP and has just hit her target on a Kickstarter campaign (she has $3,120 pledged of her $3,000 goal with 33 hours to go). Thanks for the song, Rachel!

The legendary Kitty Wells passed away yesterday at the age of 92. Wells was the first female country artist ever to have a number 1 record. That record was “It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels” and here she is performing it back in 1952. Check out bonus tracks of her covering Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young” and Otis Redding’s “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long” after the jump. RIP Kitty!
