Catherine Pierce, from the NYC-based sister duo the Pierces, will be featured in an art exhibit tonight, June 4th, alongside Louisa Pierce, Tarik Mikou and Paige Wood. The opening is from 7-9 PM and immediately following will be a performance by the great country-rock band The Morning Pages with special guest vocals by The Pierces on a couple of tunes. More details are after the jump.

AA Bondy, the former lead singer of late 90s rock group Verbena, has switched gears and reinvented himself as a really solid indie folk musician. He is currently touring in support of his latest studio effort, American Hearts. You can catch him tonight at Union Hall with Steve Burns & The Struggle supporting. Tickets are $10 and you can buy them here. Show is 21 and over.

Department of Eagles are playing tonight at Town Hall in New York City for the Revenge of the Bookeaters Benefit alongside Paul Simon, Dave Eggers, Thao Nguyen and others. This is a big day for D.O.E., who were formed in 2001 by Grizzly Bear’s Daniel Rossen and his roomate at NYU, Fred Nicolaus, as their record In Ear Park comes out today on 4AD. I am predicting that this record will find it’s way onto most 2008 Top 10 lists.

Fresh off of their tour down to Bristol, the Morning Pages will be playing at the Mercury Lounge tonight alongside Alana Amram and the Rough Gems. If you want to hear some “cool, hip” music (see the video), click here to check out a video of the Pages performing their tune “Bristol” on Daytime Tricities (Johnson City, Tn’s local morning show) and then head on over to the Mercury tonight.

Black Mountain will be performing at the Bowery Ballroom tonight. Tickets are still available at $16 a pop. They will be heading to the Music Hall of Williamsburg tomorrow across the bridge in Brooklyn before heading back up to their native Canada to finish out their tour. Seattle- based Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter are opening.

All the good things are apparently happening in NYC tonight! We were just sent this flyer and it seems rather reminiscent of Los Angeles’ own Country Night at the Little Joy. So, here it is for you East Coasters. Head on over to Home Sweet Home (131 Chrystie St, just below Delancey) from 4-9 pm tonight for $3 Beers, $3 Drafts, and $3 Wells. Not bad at all (especially considering drinks in NYC usually cost a fortune.) A little Country Night preparty before the Beachwood Sparks show?

The Beachwood Sparks will be invading New York City this weekend. The first stop is Maxwell’s tonight in Hoboken, New Jersey with our friends the Hymns. Tomorrow night, they will be at the Bowery Ballroom in Manhattan. I seriously recommend you attend at least one of these shows. These guys are legends in the recent California psychedelic country scene and when I saw them play a couple of weeks ago, let’s just say they still got it!

Miss Catherine Pierce of the sister duo the Pierces will be spinning some tunes tonight at Chloe ( 81 Ludlow close to Broome) from 10:30 pm on. If you are in New York, go down and say hello!
